There's comedy in the process of moving on

Journal entry from 4 years and some months ago. Why did I put a sad face at the end? 😂

Boxing Adventure

So nag start mag boxing ang mga officemates ko few months back. At dahil inggitera ako nakisali din ako. Wala kasi talaga akong activities.

Chucks na lang ang closest to rubbershoes na meron ako - which is super inappropriate for running/workout. Nag jogging kami ni Ali nang naka chucks ako, although that's a different story. LOL. So ayun nga wala akong sneakers, sabi ni Ali gift nya daw yung sneakers for my birthday (April). So hinintay ko muna shoesie before mag attempt punta Boxing Gym.
We go to ELORDE Southbox sa Seaside Daang-hari. Sa Starmall Alabang, may mga multicab going to Molino, dun ako sumasakay to get to Seaside Daanghari. If coming from LP, I guess you can  just wait sa kanto ng Honda para sa mga dadaan papasok ng daanghari.

For walk-in/non-members Php 250 ang bayad per session - includes boxing trainer for an hour then use of the facilities hanggat gusto mo. Php 150 for members. Annual Membership fee is Php 700
They also offer Muay Thai and Kickboxing, but I dont remember the rates.

So when I started, na-set na ng friend ko expectation na may mga "routine". Jog muna, then stretching - trainer will guide you. Skip ropes. Jumping Jacks ~~ ayan mga ganon. At sabi ko nga Im so out of shape. I swear ang mga 3 min interval na mga yun, feels like 10 minutes to me!
I then realized na may timer sa gym na na-set off every 3 minutes.

Can I just say, Speedball is my Flappy Bird!

Okay. Promise babalik na talaga ako!

Semantic satiation:

Semantic satiation (also semantic saturation) is a psychological phenomenon in which repetition causes a word or phrase to temporarily lose meaning for the listener, who then processes the speech as repeated meaningless sounds.

I experience this every now and then, but just found out today what it is called.

Birthday Gunpowder Party

Party with gunpowder!

It's my 27th birthday and I decided to do something else rather than the usual handaan/inuman with friends.
I've long been looking for another firing range, preferably closer after my first try in Foren in Naic, Cavite. When I found out that there's an indoor firing range in Festival Mall, I knew that it would be a nice way to celebrate my birthday.
Jethro Shooting Range is at the 3rd fl of Festival Mall; just right outside Ace Hardware. They have a website although they didn't put the prices of the fees, I'll just list what we paid for:

•Range Fee -Php 300 per person
•Gun Rental -Php 250 (we shared a 9mm gun)
•Ammunition -Php 12.50 per bullet

Their website:

I had a really good time. Although I kinda liked my experience with Foren better; maybe because kuya who was assisting us there was more thorough in discussing gun handling. But oh well this was still fun!

The Fault in our Stars Review

One of the main reasons why I decided to read this book is because I know a film is coming out. This is my come-back (to reading) book and my first from John Green.
I didn't have any kind of expectation -- I didn't read the synopsis and didn't watch the trailer. I must say, I was entertained and was very impressed.
The story is about 2 cancer patient teens-- Hazel and Augustus; how they go about their day to day life surving cancer, interaction with their families and how they formed their own infinity.
I got hooked right away actually --
"Late in the winter of my seventeenth year, my mother decided I was depressed,".
The way the lines are delivered is intelligent but not difficult to understand. One of my favorites is
"Above us, the wind blew and the branching shadows rearranged themselves on our skin. " Can't point a finger but that was memorable for me.
Another one is: "My thoughts are stars i can't fathom into constellations"
These are the kinds of lines I wish I wrote.
I have never felt so much for a book. I laughed, got excited, got curious, got heart-broken, I cried -- and cried some more.
I don't know much about classifying books or identifying a particular genre, but I think this book will surely entertain a wide range of audience.
This is definitely a must-read.
