sobrang hahabaan ko na lang, yung tipong see you next year after this

game, let's do this. sobrang hahabaan ko na lang, yung tipong see you next year after this.

I'm at a comfy chair, it's kind of quiet in my brain, outside, not so much. I'm busog, and i'm not depressed, sorry, I know i shouldnt use that word lightly, pero i'm okay, i'm at that right state of mind.
kaso too bad some of they keys on my laptop are no longer working.
medyo kakalungkot. matagal nang nauna tong shift key. hit or miss tong letters k & j na dapat ulit ulitin bago ma-type talaga.
nadidiliman na rin ako sa resolution.
anyway, malaya ko namang nagagamit ang PC ni boss pero possessive kasi ako, kumbaga, iba pa rin for me ang sarili kong laptop. 9 years old na rin kasi to. company discount pa kila ate.

hihirapan na naman ako isip gift for wedding anniv, Christmas, & birthday for boss.

brb

Tinatamad na pala ko i-correct mga cases.

Random Photo Dump - from my camera na nasira na </3

Puro Singapore photos pala nasa album na yon. Ayusin ko na talaga.
kthxbye

I have a forgotten Mutual Fund account that I just checked this morning and was surprised to find out that I gained P750

I have a forgotten Mutual Fund account that I just checked this morning and was surprised to find out that I gained P750! Sobrang saya ko, ibang klase. Kalat-kalat kasi mga mini funds namin and this one is from prior to us getting married pa.
On one of Financial Wellness talks sa office, na-enganyo ako mag open ng COL Financial account and funded it ng cute amount.
So ilang months yung fund na sleeping. I wanted to pull it out na kaninang umaga kasi I was thinking of managing finances na lang muna thru mga Digital Banks (ING, CIMB, etc.). To my surprise, naibili ko pala yun ng stock ng Sunlife, at may gain ako na P750. I keep saying "gain", but am not really sure if it's the correct term. ROI? Anyway, ang saya lang. Contrary to my much older mini UITF naman, na forever lugi (-27%)!!!
Anyway, here's a comparison of per annum interest rate why I wanted to move yung savings --

Traditional Savings (eg BDO) =  0.125%
Security Bank eSecure Savings = 1.000% (may bracket, but if 50k-99k)
High Interest Digital Bank (eg ING) =  2.5% (and while naka promo now 4% for the next 4 months)

kthxbye

Mini Other Kwentos of the Non-Touristy Stuff: (Getting to) Camotes Islands, Cebu

So from Cebu City, nag van lang kami to Danao. I made Google just now, 'di ko tanda if mismo ba sa terminal kami binaba, pero nasa mga 700 meters lang terminal to port.

Anyway nakarating naman kami sa Camotes Islands and may guide na I made arrangements with. So, yung whole day trip, pinagkasya namin sa halfday. Sayang, di namin na-enjoy yung ibang stops nang matagal and as usual nag LQ pa kami. Charge to experience.
Pero ayun, medyo proud lang ako how far I've come when it comes sa pag plan ng mga lakad now.

At dahil 'di nga namin na sulit, sana makabalik kami. Looking forward kasama mga kaladkarin friends, same people on our Dumaguete x Siquijor trip.

Haaaay, pandemic please be over soon!

This was supposed to be a longer post but CTS is acting up Blogger is being stupid.

Lazy post dahil ako parin 'to. I spent ridiculous amount of time mindlessly scrolling again, and YouTube hopping.
And Blogger is giving me a hard time with the fonts.
Anyway, earlier today I decided that I'll step out and run some errands. I don't know how the transportation situation is here in Bulacan. Di ko napansin nung papunta kami dahil busy looking for ATM that is not offline, has cash, and hindi mahaba pila. Error 404! From both NLEX Gasoline stations na nadaanan to the ones along the way, Pla & Pul.

111720tue210108

It's my bedtime but I challenged myself to write the entire week so even though I'm tad bit sleepy, here I go.

I actually miss writing on a nice notebook with my green Pilot pen. I miss my dresser back home. My husband got me a table that was supposed to take that (GMA dresser) role but COVID happened, so the table is now my office.

I used to always own 3 (or more) green Pilot pens - for home, office, and my purse. And like Chapsticks, I often lose the purse pen. So it gives me a little bit of pride when any of the other 2 reach the end of its life and run out of ink. And like all my other possessions, I usually drop these pens, hence the "or more" part. It's a known fact that Pilot pens get choppy when dropped. I try to replace it at once.

Yes. I got side tracked thinking about my green Pilot pens when I was supposed to be writing something with substance.

I got nothing.

So here's more random blabber which is also ink-related.

I just realized that a lot my friends have tattoos. I used to want one. I kinda still do. But I fear that if I choose an artistic or pretty design, I will eventually get over it, or worse, find the design cheesy/cringey in the future. Afterall our taste changes over time. Tattoo commitment issues exist!

On the other hand, lasers now exists! However even with that knowledge, I do not have that urge to get one. So maybe I don't really care for it? Idk.

This is long enough. *scrolls up*

Yup. Good enough for my future self's entertainment.

So ayun na nga nakapag kape rin

Quick coffee to go from Starbucks tapos park lang sa gilid ng road sa entrance pa Vermosa para magpahangin si Toby.

I can't collect planner stickers and now feelin a bit lost on what to get for 2021.

Perfect din kasi ng paper ng Starbucks planner; Moleskine is manipis for me and mahal. Gusto ko yung design and the (almost always) usual leather binding. Other planners kasi I see are too colorful or too plain for my liking; walang sakto lang.

So I searched a little bit kanina and got really interested in Limelight.ph's 365 Days planner.  However I cant find where I can order online. I'll probably have to buy from a physical store, which I wanted to avoid sana.

Anyway, I challenge myself to write this whole week. I'm flaky, but would most likely be bored the whole week so there's that.

Brewing Chika

Warm lighting, industrial interior, the aroma, & delicious coffee.

Missing coffee dates with friends and family so much, may kasamang kirot. I miss the feeling of warm coffee cup on my hands, with the anticipation of chika from friends.

Right around this time of the year, binubudol ko na friends for Starbucks sticker. I miss that too, yung feeling na kahit napilitan lang sila, but dahil malakas ka sakanila, napagbibigyan.

Even my daily McDo trips with Juicy, mabilisang tawid sa Fastbyes after mag login at ang French Vanilla ni Otet.

Hopefully soon...

Finally Additional Fonts: Betraying Courier and Arial with Shadows Into Light

Gasssppppppp, pwede na magdagdag ng ibang font????????

After 7 months of quarantine, I did it - went out for my first "non-essential labas".  To celebrate all occasions of 2020, from my birthday, to Doe's, to Minz', and our 10th year in the company, we had breakfast in Tagaytay. There was more to it really, the main reason we HAD to come and see each other in person, but that's not my story to tell.  It was pouring the night before; iniisip ko na baka di rin matuloy and maybe, that's okay. I was hesitant for obvious reasons, but have to admit there was excitement at the same time. It almost felt like I was going out on a first date. I even exclaimed "excited na ko magsapatos ulet". Almost all of my shoes are already too maalikabok!

I also had to "air" my pullover and paligo it with perfume dahil galing sa "box of clothes I won't be using anytime soon" - there was a faint but noticeable smell of plastic.

As soon as we stepped out of the car, I felt the familiar piercing breeze on my face and thought to myself - Oh I've missed this.

A woman had her photo taken with the lake in the background, and immediately said, almost yelling "syempre 'di ko ipopost!"

Ganon na talaga 'no? Disclaimer is a must (protocol was followed, we wore mask, did this, did that). Well maybe, to ease the worry na rin of our loved ones. I sent a photo to our family groupchat, and of course noted that we were cautious.

Something has changed though, while going over the menu, ang naiisip ko lang sa bawat napipili ko "oh boss can cook this", or "we can easily make this at home, mura pa". Ang ending, nadisappoint ako sa napili ko. But I enjoyed having breakfast al fresco. The coffee was good and the restaurant is also pretty.  It's nice makakita ng labas while eating. The Binintiang Malaki seemed closer and I feel like I was the only one who noticed it.  Malungkot lang 'coz a lot of establishments in Tagayay, just like elsewhere nagsara na rin. Tatay mentioned it, and nakakalungkot rin makita talaga.

Doe dropped us off at Festival Mall. And yes, it's been 7 months na rin since I last set foot Alabang.

Less uneventful weekend 'til  we all go back to our normal, hopefully soon. For now e-numan muna and maybe, another social distancing coffee date.

"Don't you think maybe they are the same thing? Love and attention?"

I wish on occasions that I have time to write, I am at better state of mind.

Maybe not after watching a sad film.

You know what, Lady Bird isn't a sad film. It's a beautiful film, but it made me feel things.

I can't seem to meet my own expectations and struggle at changing my ways.

I'm glad my life isn't a movie. It's far from entertaining, there is zero character development, the female lead is starting to get annoying, and she's not even that pretty.
There is exquisite music though, that I can guarantee.

Do humans find it comforting to know that other people also suffer in silence like one's self, or would that just be a miserable reality?

I wonder if it is all worth it in the end.
(Is this random musing or is this existential crisis?)

You know what sucks - we can't even fantasize about escape. Not in this situation. Not in the non-morbid way people escape.
And if we do, we're slammed with the cruel question of
"And then what?!"

It's impossible to save anyone from sadness. I wish I have an absurd amount of transferrable joy and security that I can give you. But it doesn't work that way.
Pero gusto ko sana masaya kayo or may content and acceptance. Pwede ba yun? Ano ba tamang state of mind and emotion na okay ka pa sa buhay, willing ka pa mag strive, you know, before life becomes a waste.

I apologize if this is rather too dark for your random reading.

Anyway, on a much lighter note, I am dreaming of Yabu's  hire katsu set - tender meat, unlimited cabbage, and all that shebang.
Sabi nila, if may isang bagay kang gusto, wait 30 days, at pag gusto mo parin, go for it. It's only been 2 days, but I can't stop thinking about it. Bakit walang Yabu near me?
I should just buy choice cut tomorrow and have boss make me a katsu set. Kaya pa ba?

"Create something even if it sucks."

I don't know who said it. Just found it on one of Reddit's motivational subs.

Random blabbering -

2 more days til the weekend. I have a throbbing headache and I don't know if it's a good idea to take Melatonin now so I can finally sleep.

Nasaan na kaya napunta mga "while washing the dishes" ideas ko.

In the mean time please enjoy this random photo of a bukid at dawn.

Matagal tagal na rin since I last enjoyed a view like this. I wish I have a recent sunset by the beach photo.

Oh well, let's just hope for the best.

Anyway, I've made up my mind, White Flower and Melatonin.

IPDNTSBIAITMCANIOI

I have decided to start a series called IPDNTSBIAITMCANIOI:
"I probably don't need this shit but I added it to my cart and now I own it"

Quarantine. Did we actually think that staying at home and not going to malls would keep us from making impulse purchases?!

I bought a bayong which I intend to use for on my talipapa trips.
Am I satisfied that it fits 4, maybe 5 vegetables? Who knows. But it's so cute, I kinda want another one to use for something else, maybe a future beach trip or what not.

Look at these canisters I bought for my imaginary coffee bar! (I know that I, with questionable enthusiasm always ask for you to look at something that may just be underwhelming, but please do.)
I mean, if the budget permits, maybe I will have my own mini coffee bar at home. I don't really need a 6,000 peso espresso machine right now. My basic coffee maker will do.

Of course affordable bathroom scales exist. But I couldn't resist this sleek, futuristic-looking Xiao Mi digital scale that displays this weight which may or may not be mine.
Should I be bothered that I am past my ideal BMI? Maybe. But do I love ordering cheeseburger and fries when nothing else seem to be good enough? YES. Is soda involved? Also YES. Is regret imminent? Also YES.

Pink cat phone case. This maybe the first time I've owned a pink phone case. I do not exactly know what to make of it. Is this regression? Do I want to relive my pre-teens days and buy things in pink and purple? Do I really have to question everything?

Some other items I bought that are not exactly pretty so I didn't take a photo of it and I don't want to bother to do so now that I'm reaching the end of this post:

Can we still say how we really feel, or are we all living in fear - of being offensive, of being insensitive, of being a total idiot?!

It's unfortunate that kids were robbed not just of summer, but also the delight of back-to-school shopping. This is one of the many little things that is indeed too little but combined with all other little things sums up our previous normal.

I miss notebook-shopping. I miss rummaging stacks after stacks of notebooks at Landmark. Being overwhelmed with all the choices; feeling the pages and finding the right amount of coarseness. The ease of online shopping cannot amount to the enjoyment of physically inspecting each notebook.

September seemed far at the outset of the quarantine, yet here we are.

Meaningful connection
Moments of bliss
Pain in your stomach due to relentless laughter
Gratitude
Breath-taking sceneries, art, and captivating songs
Love, and the continuous rediscovery of it

I hope these are the things that you have in your life

Beyond the medals, and the titles
And the digits in your wage you are measured by

All your forgotten aspirations
When yesterday feels like a lifetime away
And tomorrow is already stolen

Dream in adventure, dream in tranquil
I hope tonight you have a splendid sleep

081720mon192923

About 2 weeks ago, I made a list of the things I want to blog about.

They are kind of piling up. Will I keep my word when I said last time that pictures will follow?
Did I ever..keep my word?

I need to start journaling on paper again.

Anyway, here are a few of the things I listed that I will post with complete disregard of my previous travel post that was lacking the quality image content.

1. Marcus' Birthday e-Concert

My panganay nephew celebrated his birthday by having Zoom e-Concert for family.
He's learning to play the piano.

And if I have patience to learn to create quality video content, I might've vlogged by now. My Vimeo is hopeless, my YouTube is just unsightly.

Going back, my nephew, e-concert. He played a few classical pieces and he's really improved tremendously.
At some point, I thought the kids weren't really interested in music and was something that their Dad was just pushing them to do. But ate said Marcus took the initiative of finding a tutor online.

2. I bought pre-owned books and I haven't started reading them

It was through Reddit, someone posted books for sale in Mystery Box fashion - "Mystery Book", literally. The genre of the books are suspense/mystery and buyers had no chance to choose. The poster said it was to help his/her kapatid's schooling or something. I appreciated that, instead of those who are just asking for Gcash donations.

3. Chef Kulas' Quarantine Cooking

I, a human adult lacking cooking as life skill was somehow saved by my player 2. I guess you can call me grateful.
We're no cooking experts but Boss somehow manages. I've accepted the role of being the sous chef slash dishwasher.
I probably need a separate post for this. I've been enjoying his experiments in the kitchen.

One of my favorite from those experiments, this baked sushi.

Extended Vacay in Coron, Palawan August 2019

A year ago, we got stranded in Coron, Palawan making it one of our most memorable trips.

When choosing a destination dito sa Pinas, mas prefer ko yung less tourist-y na lugar. Coron is obviously one of the most popular destination dito sa atin.
But I really want to go to Black Island so pinush namin. Unfortunately, pag dating namin sa Coron to make arrangements sa travel agency, hindi allowed ang open sea travel, which include boat ride (of roughly 45 minutes to an hour) to Black Island or Malajon Island. Okay fine, maybe next time.

And as usual since a year ago na 'to, hindi ko na matandaan ang specifics. I'll try my best/

Cost

  • Airfare roundtrip for 2 pax - PHP 2,761.20 (seat sale obviously)
  • Coron Ultimate Tour and Calauit Tour for 2 pax joiner - roughly PHP 6,400
  • Accommodation - interesting, I can't find receipts. But according to the Internet it's about PHP 2400 a night. So we'll go with that for 2 nights... and the rest is our bonding with Agoda.

Itinerary - Expectation

Day 1 - Coron Town Tour
Day 2 - Calauit / Black Island Tour ♥
Day 3 - Ultimate Tour
Day 4 - Uwian

Itinerary - Reality

Day 1 - Paambon Coron Town Tour, slash me walking alone in nearby areas kasi super tired si Boss from graveyard shift
Day 2 - Ultimate Tour
Day 3 - Calauit Safari and that beach I forgot the name coz I was so bummed di kami natuloy Black Island and felt robbed dahil di naman nabawasan bayad namin.
Day 4 - Not Uwian - Day of emergency booking ng lodge etc.
Day 5 - Still stranded, still rainy and our cash is running low. I bought a yellow raincoat.
Day 6 - Still here! I got my nails done because there's nothing much to do. Gale warning is still in place and seacrafts are advised against venturing out to sea. No flights in and out of Coron.
Day 7 - Acceptance is the key. More food trip in Coron.
Day 8 - UWIAN!!!

In depth kwento to follow.

Sunday Woe of a Skincare Junkie

I’ve made peace with the fact that my face will never be makinis. I’m fully aware that it’s ridiculous to compare it to the artistas, even more those kPop idols.

June 2019. I was hopeful at the outset of my skincare journey. The more I read and watch, the more confident I’ve become that I can do this without going through the horrible peeling other people go through when undergoing treatment at the Dermas. I have to say, I do see some improvement, particularly on my forehead area.

My enlarged pores will be with me forever; it’s genetics. And as I age I’ll see some spots here and there.

Pimples, yes, that’s kind if a given, especially when I’m close to my period.

But my, oh my, hormonal acne has reached another milestone: 5-in-1 cystic acne. My only savior for this stubborn kind is getting cortisone injection. But at a time of pandemic, that’s not really an ideal move.

So I’m stuck with this gigantic morph of cystic acne for the next few days. Debating whether I salicylic acid or Benzoyl peroxide the shit out of it, orrrrr try to calm it with niacinamide and hope for the best.

Al Gamja Jorim and other unclear instruction

Al Gamja Jorim, or Korean Braised Potatoes has become one of my favorite Korean side dishes dahil madali gawin. You know me, cooking is not exactly one of my expertise.

What you'll need:
Baby Potatoes (cut in half yung mga malalaki)
A cup of water
About 2-3 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp honey, pwede rin pancake syrup kapag wala pa sweldo
Sesame seeds

Pakuluan mo lang sa water and soy sauce Yung potatoes. Then add honey.
If it's malambot na, tikman mo coz baka you need lagyan soy sauce or more honey, depende sa taste preference mo.
Pag oks na, remove from fire, add sesame seeds.

Bilang nasa food na rin usapan, here is another favorite - - -

Made with love by my sister in law.

Medyo biased ako, pero may laban to sa Starbucks Banana Bread. This has walnut and chocolate chips. A whole loaf for only P300!

So, ayun kung anu-ano na inorder ko this quarantine period. Yaman na ni Grab and Lalamove sakin.

Sarap kumain!

Eto kinakatakot ko sa pag work from home, pag nag fluctuate power, baka kung ano mangyari sa PC. Di ko to afford!

Speaking of WFH..

..here I am making WFH cool from the year 1997! Lol.
For me, isa to sa sign na they value education. Katulad din nung pagbili nila ng Encyclopedia at iba pang educational books that I enjoyed reading when I was younger.
I think people take it for granted.
I do too.

Oh well. I don't even know where I'm getting at.
