DEFTONES - KOI NO YOKAN

Deftones have a new album out and they're coming back to Manila :)
They've released their 7th studio album, KOI NO YOKAN back in  November 2012 and will go on a world tour. KNY has 11 tracks, including the first single Tempest

1.     "Swerve City"
2.     "Romantic Dreams"
3.     "Leathers"
4.     "Poltergeist"
5.     "Entombed"
6.     "Graphic Nature"
7.     "Tempest"
8.     "Gauze"
9.     "Rosemary"
10.     "Goon Squad"
11.     "What Happened to You?"

The opening track Swerve city sure is a short song, but I think it's a great choice to put as the first song in the album; could really get your adrenalin dancing.

And how great is it, that it had only been a little over 2 years since they first came to Manila, and by MAY 26 2013 they're coming again to play live for us? :) AWESOME! Thank you very much splintr.com.
So it's happening at the World Trade Center again in Pasay.

Happy Birthday Built by Sonic

A small shop with a BIG sound ~ Built by Sonic is a retail store carrying selective lifestyle and rock music/band apparel from both the local and international scene. They carry Nick Automatic and Gnarly to name a few (well that's just two, so a couple). They're celebrating their 2nd year and what better way to do it than a free gig!

Okay, I went to this gig because first, I wanted to avail the discounts in getting tshirts (I ended up not buying anything, didn't even enter the store); second I wanted to see December Avenue play live again, it's been awhile; third I wanted to ambush Nicolo Nimor and get a photo with him, also to see his other band Sirens play live for the first time. But mostly cause I was desperate to go out! With what happened w/ mom, I had some lakwatsas cancelled, so even if I only had 1 day off because of the schedule transition, I really had to be here. I even considered going there alone.

But yeah, I didn't even enter the store, there were so much people and I'm thinkin' nah,, I'm not even sure if I'll find something that I would really really like to buy so I decided to stay away from the crowd coming in and out of the store. I've been in the store before, they do have good stuff, but I am so broke right now, I must only buy something that I have to really buy.
I saw one of my favorite local bands December Avenue, took a picture w/ them, chat a bit but I went home right before their set started! Lovely right?! So here's my explanatory letter:
This gig happened in Eastwood which is in Cubao, and it's already 10 in the evening, I don't have a car and I live in Cavite. I have shift at 0600 the following morning and I haven't had any real sleep in days. I was really trying to convince myself that I'm only doing this just this once, that I can bear working the following morning w/only a couple of hours sleep, that I forgot to consider that commute home is difficult at this hour and there are no cabs in the province of Cavite! (well technically I can get one from Alabang, but the fare would be ridiculous)
One thing I accomplished I guess was getting a picure w/ Nicolo Nimor ~ the man behind NICK AUTOMATIC. I hated how boss obsesses about him, now I'm doing it just the same. His band played but too bad he didn't cause it was an acoustic set (he's on drums). I actually heard him play before w/ his band Campbell back in 2010 during Summer Slam X but I didn't know him then.
Boss and I had fun. I like attending gigs like this better than those big ones where you can only see the band on the white screen they have to put up for the sake of those people at the back. It's true what SonicBoom's tagline says they do make gigs the don't SUCK. ♥

ps. I had an imaginary boyfriend when I was younger named Louie. LOL
~and I think I have to make another blog post about him entitled Now Stalking.

TANDUAY RHUM ROCKFEST VI

I miss attending small gigs pero dito,it's a huge gig and Oh I'm excited to attend. Gig na walang tapon :p
I am particularly excited to see FRANCO ~ kinda intrigued kung sino ang mag play ng instruments for Franco, you know because of the news that they've disbanded na. I missed Up Dharma Down, Sandwich and Paramita! And it's always nice to see URBANDUB play ♥. There's also this new band that I'm kinda getting addicted to now, NEVER THE STRANGERS, and hopefully they dont play too early so I can catch them live.
I'm going w/ the boyfriend and my beautiful VZB friends so it's gonna be extra fun. But man, I know we procrastinated, pero ubusan pala ang tickets talaga! I checked 2 branches of 7/11 sa Paliparan and  2 sa GMA (well one is in Bulihan) and they're already out of VIP tickets. Even sa 7/11 sa Civic prime bldg here sa Alabang. Buti meron pa here sa Northgate! ~effort pa diba, andito lang pala sa labas ng office :)

Rock on \m/

Now Playing...OPM

wala ko ma-share'an so dito na lang.
so there are OPM artists na medyo few years na existing, ngayon ko lang na appreciate, kasi ngayon ko lang din hinamak na pakinggan

1. Wilabaliw ~ from the defunt Queso, Ian Tayao and Robert Dela Cruz are joined by Francis Magat and Luis Isok. I don't know how to describe their music, pero for now, rock. Matagal ko na sila naririnig from boyfriend, pero akala ko kasi super loud sila, pero ayun di naman masyado. And Ian Tayao's voice,, oh love ♥ They already released their first album back in 2010. I haven't got the chance to listen to all their songs, but I'm liking them so far.

2. Never the strangers ~ okay, literally today ko lang sila pinakinggan, but I've been seeing their name everywhere ~well online and sa Festival Mall particularly(they had a show there this month lang). I didn't even get the chance to google the members' names yet pero I love their music! Sarap pakinggan on repeat :) Well, yesterday, boss was saying there's this OPM band na he thinks is good that's why signed na agad by Viva ~ well wrong ka dyan, Warner sila signed w/ haha.
I'd describe their muisc as light alternative.

3. Soju ~ (may mga  a month or so ko na din sila unang na discover) so members are: Salamin - Paolo Valenciano + Jem Manuel (december avenue) = Soju. ~last year lang ata sila na-buo, I think during Salamin's hiatus.
No vocals, just instruments. And talaga, di naman ako guitarista, pero nagagalingan ako kila Sho and Jem talaga, w/ the delay effects pa and stuff. Basta. They're different from Salamin and December Avenue. Now I don't know how to describe their music, medyo blues + rock. I love it! I love Sho,Jem,Miks and Eo hahaha. Oh I can't wait to hear them live! How nice to attend their gig, slightly boozed holding my beer up in the air while being enveloped by their awesomeness! I can totally get lost in it. Godd job boys!

December Avenue's SLEEP TONIGHT Teedee Launch

Zel Bautista, Jet Danao, Dondon Gregorio and Jem Manuel, collectively known as December Avenue launched their 2nd Teedee last July 2nd at Citywalk2, Eastwood City Libis, just right in front of the shop that retails Sonic Teedee, Built by Sonic. Sleep tonight Teedee Launch is Built by Sonic’s first Front Yard Session with performances by Sugarplum Fairy, WalkieTalkies and Malay. The launch was hosted by Alex Lim and Jewel Angeles.

I first heard this band around April or May of 2010 when my then good friend, now boyfriend shared their songs I’ll be watching you and Ears and Rhymes. He knew that I would like them. Since then, I got exposed to other Sonicboom bands that are sure enough talented and are music-makers of substance.

I think Alex Lim, the man behind Sonicboom, is just brilliant when it comes to scouting talents. And aside from scouting talents, I think he’s also good in running the business. Sonicboom has expanded to Sonic Shape, carrying Teedee Hear and Wear, The Sonic Pill, an online music community, and their shop at Eastwood, Built by Sonic.

December Avenue’s Sleep tonight tee was designed by Aikee Vestil from Cebu and teedee includes a now more convenient download code so you can get the tracks online. Tracks included are.. (oh shit, I left them with the boyfriend) but yeah I know (or I think) it includes City Lights, I’ll be watching you (new vesion) and Dahan. I forgot the other one, but I’m guessing Sleep tonight, cause, duh, it’s the Sleep tonight teedee hahahaha. Man, I’ll just edit this once I get the list from the boyfriend.

So if you don’t have one yet, just swing by at Built by Sonic in Eastwood.
