Book Challenge and Nailfies

Ate tagged me on Facebook --

"I accepted a 7-day challenge from a dear fellow bookworm to post the covers of books I love - no explanation, no review, just the cover. Today I ask 7 friends to take up the challenge. Let's promote literacy and support for public libraries and reading."

And since not following instruction ako, I'll add a few comments.

I'd like to thank Hi-C for sending me a copy of this book. I think this is the first book na nabasa ko na mga bagets ang bida. When I first got into reading, more on mga suspense / crime fiction agad naumpisahan ko, because yun ang mga available sa min. This was a balanced read for me; generally light read lang, pero ang ganda ng mga turn of events. Medyo naluha ako ng slight sa reveal in the end, which should've been a bit obvious from the beginning.

Another genre that I haven't touched before, dark fantasy + comedy. This was also a very entertaining read for me. Pinag isipan ko ng slight if ito ba or The Ocean at the End of the Lane ang ilista ko, but I remember some parts sa latter book na medyo dragging for me, so ultimately, I chose The Graveyard Book.

For me, John Green was kind of dominating YA books these past few years. Iniyakan ko rin 'to. I think I have mentioned before that I was in a reading rut, but forced myself to read the book since a film was coming out. One of my favorite quotes, so simple but poetic -- "Above us, the wind blew and the branching shadows rearranged themselves on our skin. Gus squeezed my hand. "It is a good life, Hazel Grace.

Dito ako medyo na-pressure, because I know I loved the story and how it was written, but nakalimutan ko na mga details. It was one of the first books na medyo mabigat for me when it tackled about mental health and such.

Okay, just love this so much especially yung mga love letters ni Noah kay Allie.

The ending of this book diba? Unfortunately, I tried other Rainbow Rowell books, di ko na rin masyado nagustuhan.

Okay on another super duper unrelated note, I painted my nails today. I said I was going to cut it dahil medyo nahihirapan na ko mag-type, but for some reason my nails still look pretty and healthy kaya parang sayang naman, minsan lang to.
They got brittle for a while after I had gel polish. Oh how I want to maintain gel polish, pero wala, it's not for me.

The one on the left was after I had my nails done in Coron. Yes in Coron where we got stranded for 4 days. The one on the right was after I painted them today. The teal polish is one of the trinkets I got during my bridal shower from last year. Which reminded me, I wanted to create a post about that, pero mag one year na yon, and ano pa nga ba.

That's enough typing with long nails for the day.

I hate ER Staff who aren't good with needles

I sometimes feel so many things at once I end up like an operating system that just crash. We were at the ER one morning that time I had *tooooot - insert medical condition here*. I was already feeling stressed for few weeks because of work pressure and all these "where are you headed with your career" plan I'm expected to know being in the IT service industry for years.
I was in pain and asked the doctor to IV me something that would make it go away. And like what always happens, I get someone who doesn't know how to work the needle into a persons bulging vein. My veins are very visible! I tell you. It's far more defined than my future!  Damn ER person pushed it, lost her way, WIGGLED the fuckin  needle a bit, pulled it out, then attempted to get it in again. This sounded like one of those awful sexual encounters people post on the Internet. I was already in pain! Why in the world would you add more?!
She was kind enough to call the other nurse to help out.
But by the time they left me, my tears were already pulling a Tinuy-an falls. I don't usually cry in public. Behind ER curtains was still public to me. I was a mess! Good thing having a husband on events like these otherwise I would just look miserable crying because of pointy ouchie!
On a normal day, I would judge a person fretting over needle pain (yes Boss, I'm judging you lol). I'm judging my ER patient self now. But I don't know, seems like recently I've been struggling with so many question I do not have answer to, so I just push them to the side but can't make them completely go away.
They just build up and explode the moment these feelings get a chance. Which it did at that ER. I was so emotional, they were immediately reminded of the protocol of testing if patent was pregnant even though I told them I just tested negative literally day before while at a family clinic for that same thing.

Next topic of randomness - I looooveee the lumpia toge Mina brought today! I love the sawsawan too! Ugghhhhh
You remember those slumbooks in which you list your favorite things. I may or may not write MTM. But I'll try:

Lumpia Toge
Lumpia shanghai

Gata sitaw + kalabasa (lalo na the one from Putsi ko Ay)
Other kalabasa dishes - pumpkin soup, guisa kalbasa, etc.

Atchara
fried talong
New York Cheesecake

Okay this post got sidetracked. I'll end here and magpapakatakaw again.

City Kart Racing

We went Kart "racing" at City Kart Racing in Circuit Makati.
They raced pala, ako pabebe speed lang. Natakot ako sa mga sharp curves e. I step on accelerator lang talaga kapag straight part nung track. Despite that, it was an exhilarating activity.
Price starts at P900 something. You can walk in, but best to call them ahead.

Wait kumatok yung kapitbahay.

Si ..Jenerika - or Jean Erika? Pero nung pag pronounce nya "Generika". Nakaka distract lalo.

Random photo no. 1: BFF Donn's hand-off slash bribery

Medyo ilang beses na ko na-late and muntik ma-late sa work. This is soooo unlike me. Nung sa GMA pa ko di ako nale-late this frequent. Buti nung minsan may pa BOGO promo si Dunkin'; umabot sakin.

Me: BFF, baka ma-late ako.
BFF: Paktay, (blah blah blah chenelyn I forgot his exact words about sasalo ng ongoing call).
Me: Ayy, absent na lang pala 'ko.
BFF: Gusto mo ba ng Choco Butternut?
Me: Yes. I love free stuff!
BFF: Oh dali pumasok ka na.

Papasok naman talaga ko.

ps. I got to the office on time. Tapos na rin yung call by the time I got there.

Random photo no. 2: Rooftops and skyline

I love matataas na lugar. I love how it feels secluded. Nakaka miss mamundok. I'm so out of shape. I need to workout and mamundok ulit since wala namang akong pwedeng puntahan rooftop.

Random photo no. 3: Pasabuy from Japan

Like, yung KL, Malaysia nung 2nd birthday ni Maggie. Anuna, mag fo-4 y.o na sya!
Yung Bacolod x Lakawon trip, malapit na mag anniversary!

Dear self,

Paki ayos.

sincerely,

-self

Overnight stay at Sundowners Beach Villas

You’ve probably seen an ad on social media of this Instagram-worthy resort in Zambales. We also did! I’m blessed and cursed to have kaladkarin friends. Thanks to ate Erliza who made the booking for us as early as January of this year! The weekend slots are quickly getting filled! Bahala na sa schedule by then (RR, Juicy, and I being on the same team).
We left Alabang at around 7:30 in the morning. Had a quick (if over an hour can be counted as quick) stopover sa NLEX for breakfast; then nag grocery shopping sa Subic. We arrived at our destination in Botolan, Zambales around 3:30 in the afternoon.
We booked the Left 2 bedroom pool villa. For P 14,000, the place can accommodate 7 pax. But since there was 9 (and a half) of us, we added for the extra pax.
Here are some photos courtesy of classmate Ren.

He likes taking photographs and was very patient being the official photographer of the trip!

This trip was extra special because a very important question was asked – Mike proposed to Jusyl!
She said yes!

special participation of Mang Tomas

walang ligo ligo, pictorial agad

Team Mustard

Bago mag uwian, nag merienda kami sa Kabigting's Halohalo sa MarQuee Mall. Masarap din and sulit!

So much fun to travel with friends, especially kapag may masipag mag asikaso (Jhell), magaling magluto (RR), mahilig kumuha ng picture (classmate), and mga madaling kausap at masipag mag drive (Mike and team Tecson).

Congratulations Sweeties Mike and Juicy!

Nakita nya sa pantry namin a.k.a. ibabaw ng ref. So I gave her a few, 3 pieces to be exact.
Just this afternoon, nagtimpla ako and messaged her via Viber.
Kring: Best served over ice. (+ photo of my glass)
Mommy: Yes, hindi ko pa natimpla. 2 pcs give ko each Tita Baby and Aisa
I want to give her the world. Ipapamigay nya pa din most likely.

I was doing fine at home, NOT eating sweets. Then I went to SM, BAM!!! In less than an hour = Krispy Kreme! Serenitea! May nalalaman pa kong 50% sweetness level. Girl!
